We know that many McDonald’s fans will never forgive the Golden Arches for axing the all-day breakfast menu. But, if nothing else, that just goes to show how beloved Mickey D’s breakfast options are. From the hash browns to the McGriddle and, of course, the Egg McMuffin, there are so many reasons to get to McDonald’s before 11 a.m.

For me, however, there was always one breakfast item that beat out the rest, including the classics: McDonald’s bagel sandwiches.

Mickey D’s bagel sandwiches, which are available in classic Bacon, Egg & Cheese and Steak, Egg & Cheese, feature a toasted, buttered bagel, a folded egg, melty American cheese, a choice of meat, and—the key ingredient—Breakfast Sauce.

Some people rave about McDonald’s Big Mac Sauce, but I rave about its creamy, cheesy Breakfast Sauce, which tastes like a mix between mayo and hollandaise.

McDonald's Is Adding Its Breakfast Bagel Sandwich to Menus Nationwide

The breakfast bagel sandwiches are my go-to item on the menu, but the problem is that they’re not as widely available as the Egg McMuffin or Hotcakes. They’re a regional item, meaning only restaurants in select markets sell them.

However, as the bagel sandwiches have continued to grow in popularity, Mickey D’s has decided it’s time for everyone to enjoy them. Beginning Feb. 25, McDonald’s breakfast bagel sandwiches are available at all McDonald’s restaurants nationwide for the first time ever.

It’s not clear if the bagel sandwiches will be a permanent addition to the breakfast lineup or only available for a limited time. That just means you’ll have to get to Mickey D’s ASAP to get your order of those fan-loved Bacon, Egg & Cheese and Steak, Egg & Cheese bagels.

McDonald's Expands Krispy Kreme Doughnut Availability

The bagel sandwich isn’t the only breakfast item expanding its reach. McDonald’s Krispy Kreme partnership is hitting New York City so those in the Big Apple can enjoy fresh doughnuts with their McCafé order. Currently, Krispy Kreme doughnuts are available at restaurants in major cities like Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and Louisville, with plans to bring the morning treat to more than half of McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. by 2026.

Why is Mickey D’s making these breakfast changes now, you ask? Because 2025 marks a big year for breakfast items at the Golden Arches. The iconic Egg McMuffin is turning 50.

To celebrate the Egg McMuffin, which began at a franchise in Santa Barbara, California, in 1971 and debuted nationwide in 1975, McDonald’s is declaring a National Egg McMuffin Day. On March 2, you can get an Egg McMuffin or Sausage McMuffin with Egg breakfast sandwich for just $1 when you order through the McDonald’s app.

Then, for the rest of the month, you will receive BOGO Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwiches when you order for delivery via the McDonald’s app between March 3 and 30.

Whether it's to honor the OG Egg McMuffin or try something new, like a bagel sandwich, the early morning McDonald's drive-thru line is about to get a few cars longer.
