If you haven’t started to plan your Super Bowl snacks, it’s officially that time! The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs take the field at the 59th big game, and while there are many types of game day snacks, we’d wager that most spreads include foods like wings, chips and dip, and sliders.
Of course, one of those hard-to-resist party essentials is salsa. It’s a dip on its own but can also be used as a base for other dips. It’s also necessary for nachos, tacos, quesadillas, chili, and so much more.
Right now, Costco has a great deal on a big jar of salsa that’s “sooooo freaking amazing!” according to fans.
Mateo's Salsa Is on Sale at Costco
Recently on Instagram, @costcohotfinds posted a video all about Mateo’s Salsa and her favorite way to use it. She slow-cooked chicken with the salsa to make a pull-apart chicken tinga of sorts, which looked delicious and easy.
Right now, Mateo’s Salsa sells for $4.99 for a 32-ounce jar at Costco, which is $2 less than usual (price is dependent on location). Lamb says the sale is good through Feb. 9, which just happens to be Super Bowl Sunday.
How good is this salsa? “I could drink Mateo’s,” confessed one of her followers. And another said, “This is the absolute BEST shelf-stable salsa!”
All the Ways to use Mateo’s Salsa for the Super Bowl
We’re willing to bet that just pouring Mateo’s into a bowl and serving it with tortilla chips would be a hit with your party guests. But why stop there? Here are a few ways we’d use this salsa (or any salsa we may have on hand) to spice up our Super Bowl snacks.
- Tailgate Tacos: These aren’t ordinary tacos. These are mini tacos built in a muffin pan with wonton wrappers as the base. The wontons are filled with ground beef cooked with salsa and taco seasoning then topped with cheese and baked.
- Cheesy Chili Chip Dip: Just four ingredients—canned chili, cream cheese, salsa, and processed cheese food (like Velveeta)—go into this dip that you cook on the stovetop.
- Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken: Similar to what Lamb made in her Instagram video, but with a few more ingredients, chicken breasts go into the slow cooker with salsa, seasonings, and some chopped veggies. Shred the cooked chicken to use for nachos, tacos, and other Super Bowl snacks.
- Super Nachos: Just the way you love them. Chips topped with meat, beans, salsa, olives, cheese, sour cream, and more.
- 7-Layer Taco Dip: How this retro ’80s dip ever went out of style is beyond us, but it’s making a comeback because it’s just so darn good. With a base of canned refried beans and layers of sour cream, salsa, veggies, olives, and cheese, it’s a no-bake dip that will disappear fast.
The 32-ounce jar of Mateo’s salsa is two full pounds of salsa, which should be enough to make a few of these snacks. But at this price, we recommend grabbing two!
