Coconut Margarita Ingredients
To make this recipe, you will need tequila blanco (silver tequila), triple sec (such as Cointreau), lime juice, cream of coconut, corn syrup and toasted coconut flakes. You can also garnish your drink with lime slices and mint sprigs.
How Do You Make A Coconut Margarita?
Toast coconut flakes in a pan on the stove until golden brown. Coat the rim of your glass with corn syrup. You can do this by brushing a little syrup onto the rim, or pour some syrup on a plate and dip the rim of the glass on the plate. Pour the toasted coconut flakes onto a plate, and dip the glass rim into the coconut. Place a few cubes of ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour the tequila and triple sec into the shaker. Next, add the lime juice and cream of coconut. Shake to combine. Place a few cubes of ice in the glass. Strain the liquid into the glass, then add garnishes and serve.
Tips For The Perfect Drink
- This recipe calls for cream of coconut, which is a sweetened coconut syrup. Do not use coconut milk or coconut cream, as neither of these products contain sugar and will create a totally different drink.
- To make the coconut rim, buy finely shredded coconut. Toast it in a dry pan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until it is light golden brown, then use it for the glass rim.
- This recipe makes one drink. You can easily scale up the ingredients to make more drinks, simply change the serving size in the recipe card.
- I recommend purchasing a measuring shot glass to get the right quantities of liquor and coconut cream with minimal hassle.
- This coconut margarita recipe calls for a cocktail shaker. If you don’t own a shaker, you can shake the ingredients in a jar instead.
Quick Tip
Use freshly squeezed lime juice for the best results.
