When it comes to new menu launches, it can sometimes feel like the U.S. is getting the short end of the McFlurry spoon. We’ve heard the legends—Italy’s Pistachio McFlurry, Hong Kong’s Matcha McFlurry. We’ve campaigned for international favorites to cross the pond, but to no avail. Heck, we’re still waiting on the Big Arch Burger to make its way down from Canada.

So when we heard McDonald’s was finally bringing back a fan-favorite treat—this time with a Hershey’s twist—it seemed like our luck was finally turning. But, although this treat is available in the States, it is just as exclusive as some international releases.

McDonald’s New Hershey’s Chocolate Chip Frappé

Over the past few weeks, McDonald’s has been introducing a new offering at locations across the U.S.: the Hershey’s Chocolate Chip Frappé.

If the name rings a bell, that’s because this isn’t its first time on the menu. The original Chocolate Chip Frappé was once a fan favorite before it disappeared from menus several years ago. Now, it’s back—and this time, it’s been upgraded with the help of Hershey’s.

The new version features a blend of Mocha and Caramel Frappé bases, infused with coffee flavor and swirled with Hershey’s chocolate chips. It’s basically just like the old version, but with a name-brand twist. As one Redditor put it, “The chocolate chips are better because they’re name brand.”

The blended drink is topped by hand with whipped cream and a sprinkle of more Hershey’s chips to finish.

“I remember back in 2017, I used to get a chocolate chip frappé every Saturday. I was so sad when they discontinued it. I’m so excited for this!” one fan shared. Another added, “My absolute favorite drink ever—I’m so happy it finally came back.”

So, what’s the verdict from fans who have tasted the name brand upgrade? “Literally delicious—I’ve been thinking about it all day,” one customer gushed. “This should be a permanent flavor!” another demanded.

But here’s the catch: it won’t be available at every McDonald’s. The limited-edition drink is only launching in select markets for now, and according to one Redditor, individual stores may be choosing whether or not to offer it.

Before heading to your local drive-thru, check the McDonald’s app or give them a quick call to see if they’re serving it. We’d hate for you to experience the heartbreak of discovering it’s not on the menu after all.

Worst case? We might just have to add this one to the list of regional items worth road-tripping for.
