Key Takeways

  • Lunchables is introducing a brand-new crustless sandwich that rivals the popular Uncrustables ones.
  • Unlike Uncrustables, Lunchables' sandwiches don't need to be thawed and feature an all-new way for kids to enjoy the lunch box staple.

Packing school lunches can get pretty complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. If you have a kid who is satisfied with peanut butter and jelly every day, mornings are a breeze. It takes two minutes to slap together the sandwich, but with the introduction of Uncrustables, tossing a PB&J into a lunch box couldn’t be any easier.

No brand has been able to unseat Uncrustables over the years, but now Lunchables is coming for the sandwiches you keep in the freezer that defrost in the lunch box. Its newest innovation isn’t exactly like an Uncrustable, but it’s similar enough and features a fun new way for kids to enjoy the beloved PB&J sandwich.

Lunchables Launches New PB&J

Chicken nuggets and honey mustard sauce. French fries and a milkshake. Tortilla chips and nacho cheese sauce. Grilled cheese and tomato soup. It’s fun—and tasty—to dip foods. But what can you dip a PB&J in? Nothing comes to mind, but Lunchables figured out how to make the classic lunch staple dipable. It took the jelly out and turned it into a dip.

The new Lunchables PB&J is a ready-to-eat, straight from the fridge, crustless sandwich filled with peanut butter, ready to dip in a cup of either grape or strawberry spread. Kids can choose as much or as little spread as they desire, having total control over the peanut butter-to-jelly ratio. All you have to do is pull it out of the fridge, throw the package in a lunch box, and lunch is practically ready for the school day, childcare, or summer camp.

Kids aren’t the only ones getting a treat. To celebrate the launch, hip hop’s Lil Jon and Twista, who, some millennial parents may remember as the artists responsible for many school dances, have joined forces to remix the 2002 hit “Peanut Butter Jelly Time.” The song is now available for listening on Lunchables’ YouTube and Spotify.

Lunchables PB&J are now hitting select retailers nationwide, so if you're looking for a convenient and tasty treat for your kids, be sure to keep an eye out for them.
