We know that Dunkin’ and Starbucks tend to get pitted against one another as the biggest coffee chains in the U.S. However, we’ll be the first to admit that we love both of the chains because typically, we’re ordering very different items at each of the drive-thrus. However, as much as we love the variety of getting a bucket of Munchkins and shaken espresso at Dunkin’ and a Jalapeño Chicken Pocket with an Iced Cherry Chai at Starbucks, we do love a little fast food drama.

In the world of chain restaurants, keeping up with your competitors is the name of the game. When one restaurant adds something to its menu, multiple others usually follow suit within a few months—especially when it’s something as trendy as hot honey or Dubai chocolate.

With Dubai chocolate—the chocolate bar filled with pistachio, tahini, and crispy knafeh pastry—taking over the internet, and now the grocery store, drive-thru, and candy store, it’s no surprise that some chains are leaning into the trend. While Dunkin’ hasn’t gone as far as a Dubai chocolate drink (yet), it is right on time with its pistachio coffee that it brought back in March. In fact, Dunkin’ was actually ahead of the pistachio trend, since the coffee flavor was a fan favorite that hadn’t been seen since 2019.

With fans calling pistachio the “the greatest flavor that Dunkin’ ever came out with,” the chain is leaning into its nutty offerings with a new pistachio-flavored coffee—and this one doesn’t look too far off from Starbucks’ past pistachio offering.

Dunkin' Launches Early Summer Menu

On April 30, Dunkin’ is releasing its early summer menu, which includes a new Pistachio Signature Latte—along with a new Refresher flavor and bakery treat.

The new Pistachio Signature Latte, which is available hot or iced, gives fans another opportunity to enjoy the nutty, slightly sweet flavor. The latte features rich espresso, frothed milk, and Pistachio Swirl, and is topped with whipped cream, a caramel drizzle, and waffle cone pieces.

Joining the Pistachio Signature Latte, Dunkin’ is adding a new Tropical Guava Dunkin’ Refresher to its line of fruity drinks, which currently includes a Mango Pineapple and Strawberry Dragonfruit flavor. The new Tropical Guava Refresher features the sweet flavor of guava—which tastes like a mix between a strawberry and a pear—and features B vitamins for a natural energy boost.

Last, but not least, Dunkin’ is taking on Starbucks once again by debuting a new bakery treat—and it’s not a doughnut. Following the success of its Iced Lemon Loaf, Dunkin’ is releasing an Iced Strawberry Lemon Loaf for the warm months. The new loaf cake features the same lemon loaf base, now with a strawberry loaf cake swirl and new sweet strawberry icing. Dunkin’s Iced Strawberry Lemon Loaf is sold individually pre-packaged for easy on-the-go snacking.

Dunkin’s three new early summer offerings will be around for a limited time—and don’t worry, not all the spring menu items are headed out. While the Pistachio Coffee is being replaced with the Pistachio Signature Latte, Dunkin’s Dunkalatte, Arctic Cherry Dunkin’ Energy, Brown Sugar Shakin’ Espresso, Ham & Swiss Pretzel Sliders, Sweet Black Pepper Bacon offerings, and Chicken Bacon Croissant Stuffer will still be available. Additionally, the $6 Meal Deal—complete with a Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich, crispy hash browns, and a medium hot or iced coffee—is sticking around for another season.

Starbucks may have already teased its summer menu, which includes the return of the popping pearl-filled Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and a new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, but we don’t have any dates, yet. So, we guess our first few weeks of fast food summer will be spent at Dunkin’ while we wait on Starbucks to release its menu.
