It’s starting to seem like everyone and their mother has a viral Jersey Mike’s sub order nowadays. But, if that means I have to eat Jersey Mike’s every week to determine which hack is actually the best, then it’s the price I have to pay. I know, I know, it’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it.
I’ll be honest, I normally turn my nose up at viral fast food orders because how could a Chick-fil-A salad with chicken tenders be better than my go-to Spicy Deluxe chicken sandwich and fries, or a Taco Bell quesadilla stuffed with Doritos Locos Tacos beat my beloved Crunchwrap Supreme? But, if I pooh-poohed every viral fast food order out there, I would have never discovered Chipotle’s delicious honey vinaigrette or learned to upgrade my Jersey Mike’s sub with Rosemary Parmesan bread and Chopped Pepper Relish.
Because one viral Jersey Mike’s order changed my #8 Club Sub order forever, I’m always willing to listen when a social media user says they can upgrade my order.
So, when TikTok user @kingvoneats posted a video saying, “I know there’s a ton of viral Jersey Mike’s orders out there, but I swear this is the No. 1,” he was speaking my language.
The 'Life-Changing' Viral Jersey Mike's Order
The “life-changing” order is the #13 The Original Italian sub on Rosemary Parmesan bread made Mike’s Way (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olive oil, vinegar, oregano, and salt) with the addition of chopped pepper relish and chipotle mayo. While the Rosemary Parm bread and spicy pickled relish were not news to me—in fact, they’re non-negotiables on my sandwiches now—the chipotle mayo was.
I’m a mayo fan, so I add it to every one of my Jersey Mike’s subs—and it’s probably the reason why I enjoyed the tuna and chicken salad subs. But, I love spicy, smoky chipotle mayo just as much, so I can’t believe I didn’t know you could order the condiment at the chain.
It’s likely because the chipotle mayo isn’t displayed with all the other deli sandwich toppings—and you can’t add it as a customization on the app. The mayo is a key component of Jersey Mike’s hot Chipotle Cheesesteak and Chipotle Chicken Cheesesteak subs, so, depending on how your restaurant is set up, you might not even see the bottle at all. And it would explain why I, a cold-sub-only-orderer, didn’t know chipotle mayo existed.
Here is my honest review of the viral Italian sub.
I Tried The Viral Jersey Mike's Italian Sub
Bailey Fink
Jersey Mike’s Original Italian features provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni, then @kingvoneats doctors it up Mike’s Way with chopped pepper relish and chipotle mayo, all on Rosemary Parmesan bread.
I’m normally an Italian sub lover—my go-to order at Subway has always been the chain’s “B.M.T.”—but Jersey Mike’s version was a little too meaty. I’ve never had a Jersey Mike’s sandwich fall apart the way this one did—even the viral tuna fish order, which was loaded with extra ingredients. While I do appreciate the bang for my buck, it’s hard to enjoy the bang when the sandwich toppings are falling all over my lap.
Structural integrity aside, I did enjoy the flavor combination of the sandwich. Of course, Mike’s Way with chopped pepper relish on Rosemary Parmesan bread is already my usual go-to, but the chipotle mayo did a lot for me (when I could taste it). Because the sandwich is pretty meat-heavy, the chipotle mayo has a lot of flavors to overpower. However, I think in my regular Club Sub order, the chipotle mayo will shine.
Do I think the viral Italian sub is the “No. 1?” Probably not. Then again, don’t we all think our favorite order is the best, or else we wouldn’t order it, right? But, will I be adding the chipotle mayo to my go-to? You bet.
