Here’s our philosophy. When purchasing kitchen goods for long-term use, spend as much as you can reasonably afford to buy durable, quality, long-lasting items that you won’t have to replace for a very long time, if ever. If you know you’ll be making stews and soups for decades, if you can afford a Le Creuset Dutch oven, go for it. If you take care of it, you can probably pass it down to your grandchildren. Buy quality knives, take care of them, and they will last decades, too.

Dishware isn’t as durable, but there are certain brands, like Fiestaware, that are timeless and tougher to break than others. But, like clothing and water tumblers, dish trends can come and go. Right now, lemon decor is on trend. Lemoncore, as influencers are bound to call the trend, can be found on tea towels, tablecloths, clothing, and all types of tableware. And in two years, lemoncore items will probably be found at the yard sales of those who moved on to a new trend.

If you’re someone who loves a good trend only when it’s…well, trending, then spending a lot of money on the lemoncore aesthetic this season may not be the wisest financial investment. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little lemon whimsy on your table.

Royal Norfolk Lemon Printed Stoneware Plate

Rather than spending $250 on a set of Williams Sonoma Limone Dinnerware, skip on over to Dollar Tree for lemon-themed dinner plates for pennies on the dollar. They aren’t identical to the more expensive ones, but they have that lemoncore vibe that will put a sunny smile on your face when you pull them out of the cabinet.

We’ve been impressed by Dollar Tree’s Royal Norfolk dishware before. Last summer, shoppers were wowed by the Blue Burst Dinner Plates. Earlier this year, the Turquoise Swirl Stoneware Bowls had everyone doing a double take. Now, this spring, Dollar Tree is jumping on the lemoncore bandwagon with Lemon Printed Stoneware Plates that add a “zesty experience to any meal.”

Each 10.5-inch dinner plate is just $1.25, which means you can afford to add a citrusy aesthetic to your table without breaking the bank. If you’re thinking, “But the Williams Sonoma Limone line has more than just dinner plates, and I want more pieces,” don’t fret. Dollar Tree also has a sandwich plate, a bowl, and a mug in the same pattern—each just $1.25—that will have your table setting bursting with style this spring.

At these prices, you can afford a full setting for four diners for just $20 and not feel bad if it all ends up at your yard sale when lemoncore no longer excites you.
