You know spring is upon us when we start talking about Peeps. Back in the day, Peeps were simple—little chick-shaped marshmallow treats covered in yellow sugar, sold mainly during the Easter season. Now, Peeps are available in over 40 different varieties and colors, including Halloween- and Christmas-themed marshmallows.
While most of us enjoy a colorful chick Peep or a white ghost Peep as is, others like to use the sweet treat to make culinary creations like Peep Smoothies or holiday-themed cakes. They also make a great addition to a s’more in place of a regular marshmallow.
And then there are the collaborations. Peeps recently teamed up with Duncan Hines for cake and cupcake mixes, complete with a Peep-yellow frosting, of course. It also partnered with Promised Land Dairy for a fairly unhinged Sweet Marshmallow Milk that, according to some customers, “actually tastes pretty good.”
Well, Peeps is dabbling in the beverage sector once again. This time, it's a new collaboration you’ll find in places such as convenience stores, movie theaters, and gas stations. That’s right, Peeps is coming for one of your favorite slushies.
Introducing the Icee and Peeps Collaboration
Peeps is teaming up with Icee for a limited-edition Peeps-flavored Icee, marrying the chill of the frozen drink with the sweet marshmallow flavor of Peeps.
“We’re always looking for fun, innovative ways to surprise our fans, and bringing the sweet, fluffy taste of Peeps Marshmallow to an Icee does just that. Whether you’re celebrating the season or simply craving something new, this limited-edition flavor is a must-try,” says Kimmra Hingher, vice president of marketing at Icee.
The Peeps-flavored Icee is available now for a limited time, so head to places where you’d normally find Icee machines—movie theaters, theme parks, convenience stores, and select Target, Regel, and Main Event locations—to get your marshmallow-flavored brain freeze on.
