In the midst of the dreary winter blues, one of the best ways to brighten our day is with a little treat from our favorite fast food restaurant. And everyone knows February is the perfect month for those desserts because not only can you get chocolate Valentine’s Day-inspired items, but also a taste of the St. Patrick’s Day favorites to come.
Just a few days after Dairy Queen brought back its fan-loved Red Velvet Cake Blizzard and Red Velvet Blizzard Cupid Cake for Valentine’s Day, it announced its beloved St. Patrick’s Day creation is returning, too.
Dairy Queen’s Mint Oreo Blizzard Is Back
Dairy Queen / Allrecipes
DQ’s Mint Oreo Blizzard is officially back—well before March 17.
The green treat is filled with Oreo cookie pieces and mint topping blended in Dairy Queen’s signature vanilla soft serve. The minty Blizzard is loaded with texture and chocolaty cookies and cream flavor thanks to the real Oreo pieces.
While Dairy Queen typically offers a chocolate-mint Blizzard for the Irish holiday, the Mint Oreo Blizzard itself hasn’t been seen since 2020. Last year, the ice cream chain released a Mint Brownie Blizzard, along with a special St. Patrick’s Day Under the Rainbow Shake.
The sprinkle-filled strawberry shake isn’t making a comeback, but if we have to sacrifice other menu items to get the Mint Oreo Blizzard back, we don't even mind.
The Oreo-filled Blizzard returned just a few days after McDonald’s Shamrock Shake and Oreo Shamrock McFlurry hit menus nationwide. So, it seems this St. Patrick’s Day season will be a battle of the minty Oreo sundaes—though we’d venture a bet that DQ’s working ice cream machines will be a point in the chain’s favor.
Dairy Queen’s Mint Oreo Blizzard will only be available for a limited time, but DQ doesn’t specify just how long. We’d assume it’ll be on menus through March 17, but hopefully, we get until the end of March to enjoy the cooling ice cream treat.
Or, hear us out Dairy Queen, maybe the minty Blizzard joins the other Oreo desserts on the full-time menu. We wouldn’t mind alternating between classic Oreo and Mint Oreo every time we hit the drive-thru.
